Student Admission Policy
- Central Admission: The distribution of students to colleges and institutes by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research based on their Baccalaureate exam scores and preferences.
- Student Affairs Procedures Manual: The document containing the instructions, regulations, and conditions related to student admission.
- Admission Capacity: The maximum number of students that the college can accommodate based on its resources.
Policy Statement
The College of Medicine at the University of Nineveh seeks to regulate the student admission process in line with its capacity to ensure fairness and efficiency. This is achieved by adhering to the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research / Central Admission Directorate’s instructions and implementing the guidelines outlined in the Student Affairs Procedures Manual and admission conditions.
Policy Objectives
- Ensure compliance with ministerial regulations.
- Achieve a balance between the college's capacity and labor market needs.
- Update the admission policy in accordance with the college’s mission and curriculum development.
General Principles
- The college’s commitment to the Ministry’s official instructions.
- Consideration of the college’s admission capacity.
- Annual revision of the admission policy.
Procedures
- After confirming their name in the central admission list, the student must report in person to the college’s Registration and Student Affairs Division with official documents. Attendance must be in person; representation is not allowed.
- Obtain the registration and enrollment receipt from the college Accounts Division.
- Collect registration forms from the “New Student Reception and Registration Committee” of the Registration Division (student file, student information form, ID application form).
- Complete the forms accurately and submit them along with official documents for verification.
- The student must meet with the Registration Division Director for file signing and a personal interview to confirm eligibility and fitness.
- Registration must be completed within two weeks of the announcement of admission lists, otherwise the admission will be canceled.
- An official administrative order is issued with the names of enrolled students to begin their studies.
- The student is provided with a valid ID card for two academic years, which will be renewed until graduation.
Note: Work is underway to implement an electronic registration system soon.
Welcome meetings: Welcome meetings for new students are organized by the Dean in cooperation with the Educational Guidance and Counseling Unit.
Understanding numbers: Take necessary measures to accommodate the increased numbers (see the Increased Number Management and Accommodation Policy).

Implementation Responsibility
College Council:
- Annual revision of the admission policy.
- Monitor the implementation of the policy
- Form the New Student Reception Committee annually
- Conduct orientation sessions for new students
Academic and Psychological Counseling Unit:
- Welcome the students
- Provide academic and psychological support
- Introduce students to college guides (Student Guide, College Handbook, Counseling Guide)
Registration and Student Affairs Division:
- Complete the registration process for admitted students
- Issue the administrative order listing enrolled students
- Issue the student ID
Administrative Affairs Division:
- Maintain and develop infrastructure
- Provide civil defense services
