As part of the scientific and academic cooperation between the College of Medicine at the University of Nineveh and Al-Khansa Teaching Hospital, affiliated with the Nineveh Health Department, a training course titled “Preoperative Serological and Biochemical Evaluation” was held, addressing the importance of serological and biochemical evaluation of patients prior to surgery. The scientific lectures were presented by Assistant Lecturer Iman Muhammad Majid and Assistant Lecturer Nagham Fares Khalil, who reviewed the role of laboratory tests in assessing a patient’s health status prior to both emergency and scheduled surgeries, as well as their importance in supporting medical decisions and enhancing patient safety.

The session included a practical training component on the ELISA device, presented by Dr. Na’am Nafea and Teaching Assistant Nour Abdel-Hafez, with the aim of familiarizing participants with how to use the device and its applications in conducting laboratory tests. The course was attended by a number of medical and academic staff and featured scientific discussions and Q&A sessions that facilitated the exchange of expertise and strengthened the integration of theoretical knowledge with practical application. This course is part of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Nineveh’s efforts to strengthen partnerships with healthcare institutions and develop the laboratory and clinical skills of medical staff, thereby supporting the quality of medical practices and contributing to enhanced patient safety prior to surgical procedures.
