Together Against Bullying… Toward a Psychologically Safe Campus Environment

As part of a series of activities organized by the University Psychological Counseling Unit at the College of Medicine – University of Nineveh, and under the patronage of the Dean of the College, an awareness seminar was held titled: “Toward a Psychologically Safe Environment… Together Against Bullying” on Tuesday, April 14. The seminar aimed to shed light on the phenomenon of bullying and its psychological, behavioral, and social consequences, particularly on students, while emphasizing the importance of addressing it within the university environment. The seminar addressed several topics, including an introduction to the concept of bullying, its types, and causes, as well as its negative effects on mental health, academic achievement, and social relationships, alongside a review of prevention and treatment methods and the promotion of a culture of respect and tolerance. The seminar featured presentations by Dr. Jinan Saeed Al-Rahou, Dr. Abeer Wali, and Dr. Sari Abi, while Dr. Osama Maysar moderated the event. It saw significant engagement from the audience through discussions and questions. The Psychological Counseling Unit affirms its commitment to continuing to organize such awareness-raising activities as part of its plan aimed at supporting mental health and building a safe and stimulating university environment conducive to learning.
