Awareness protects… and guidance creates a safer campus environment

Under the patronage of Assistant Professor Dr. Momen Junaid Al-Dabouni, Dean of the College of Medicine, and under the direct supervision of the University Psychological Counseling Unit, an awareness workshop on drug prevention was held for students and faculty members of the college, with the aim of promoting health and psychological awareness regarding the dangers of addiction and ways to prevent it. The session covered a range of important topics, most notably: • An introduction to drugs, their types, and their effects on physical and mental health.
- The social and behavioral consequences of substance use
- Prevention strategies and the development of refusal skills and sound decision-making.
- The Role of Psychological and Counseling Support in Protecting Individuals and Society. The workshop also highlighted the importance of early awareness in mitigating negative phenomena, as well as the role of educational institutions in promoting a culture of mental health among students, thereby contributing to the development of a more aware and stable university community. This session is part of a series of awareness-raising activities that the University Psychological Counseling Unit is committed to implementing, affirming its role in fostering positive behaviors and promoting concepts of prevention and social responsibility. Through these initiatives, the college reaffirms its commitment to fostering preventive awareness among its students and staff and building a safe and responsible university environment that contributes to protecting young people and strengthening their positive role in society.
