Assistant Professor Dr. M0'min Junaid al-Dabouni, Dean of the College of Medicine – University of Nineveh

The Silver Jubilee is not the end of this chapter, because its achievements will continue.

Seven deans have served at various stages in the college’s history… As for the eighth stage, its story is still being written as we speak. In 2003, Dr. Mu’min Junaid al-Dabouni graduated from the College of Medicine at the University of Mosul. He then continued his specialty training, earning the Arab Board Certification in Urology in 2013, before being appointed as an assistant professor in 2022.

In 2018, he assumed the position of Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs, playing a key role in an important phase of the institution’s restructuring and development, before later taking on the responsibility of Dean of the College of Medicine at the University of Nineveh. Since assuming the deanship in 2023, a number of initiatives have begun to translate into tangible achievements.

In 2025, the college achieved one of its most significant academic milestones by receiving academic accreditation from the National Council for the Accreditation of Medical Colleges. This period also saw the opening of the training center for the Iraqi Board Examination in Radiology, thereby strengthening the college’s presence in the field of specialized medical training and graduate studies.

These development efforts extended to building broader partnerships through the signing of cooperation agreements with the Nineveh Health Department, Al-Zahraa College of Medicine, and Basra College of Medicine, thereby opening new avenues for academic, scientific, and training collaboration. Because students are an essential part of the college’s identity, this phase also saw the establishment of annual student conferences, providing students with a platform to present their ideas, research, and first steps in scientific work. The college also focused on implementing the OSPE and OSCE exams.

From academic accreditation… to specialized training… and from academic partnerships… to the annual student conference…

Today, as the College of Medicine prepares to celebrate its 25th anniversary, the dean is directly overseeing preparations for the Silver Jubilee of the College of Medicine at the University of Nineveh—a celebration intended not merely as a look back at the past, but as a milestone that brings together the college’s history, its present, and its aspirations for the future.

The tenure of Professor Dr. Mu'min Junaid Al-Dabouni will remain a significant milestone in the college’s history, as his efforts and achievements have contributed to its continued path of development and excellence and strengthened the College of Medicine’s standing among educational and medical institutions.

Since the Silver Jubilee at the Nineveh Medical School is not merely a celebration of the past

A prelude to what is to come
