As part of the series on patents at the College of Medicine—University of Nineveh, we highlight an innovation by Dr. Saif al-Din Amer Ahmed, the holder of a patent for a device designed to simulate the effects of outer space gravity. The device was granted a patent by the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control at the Iraqi Ministry of Planning; it was also evaluated by international assessors and has proven its effectiveness in research applications. The device was used in specialized studies to investigate the effect of simulated space gravity on cancer cells, and the results showed promising indicators that have helped open new horizons for studying the effect of gravity on cells and tissues.
